This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.
• Design and enhance enterprise data architectures, encompassing Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, pipelines, semantic models, and reporting layers.
• Establish and uphold architectural standards, patterns, and best practices across Microsoft Fabric and Azure services.
• Convert enterprise data strategy into epics, features, and actionable technical stories.
• Lead technical planning activities, proactively identifying dependencies, risks, and trade-offs early in the project lifecycle.
• Set and enforce standards for data quality, taxonomy, pipeline design, and semantic modeling.
• Review solution designs and critical implementations to ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Serve as a technical leader and mentor, enhancing engineering practices and system-level thinking.
• Design, construct, and improve data pipelines, dataflows, notebooks, and semantic models.
• Actively contribute to complex, high-impact initiatives at the intersection of architecture and implementation.
• Assist in platform modernization, including migration from on-prem SQL Server to Microsoft Fabric.
• Optimize data solutions for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists to productionize ML models and incorporate them into enterprise pipelines.
• Utilize AI-assisted techniques to enhance development workflows and solution quality.
• Deliver scalable, maintainable, and high-quality data solutions consistent with best practices.
• Engage in cross-project planning and release activities.
• Work alongside Product Owners and stakeholders to ensure solutions align with business needs and priorities.
• Monitor systems through logs and dashboards to maintain performance, reliability, and facilitate issue resolution.
• Develop and maintain clear, concise technical documentation (architecture, systems, processes).
• Over 4 years of experience in software/data engineering (Python, PySpark, Spark, or similar technologies).
• Significant experience in designing and constructing enterprise data platforms (Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Analytics).
• Proficiency in SQL, relational databases, and large-scale data systems.
• Experience with data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and query optimization.
• Knowledge of semantic modeling and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms (preferably Azure / Microsoft Fabric or similar).
• Understanding of distributed data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Hadoop or their cloud-native equivalents).
• Comprehension of CI/CD, DataOps/MLOps, and contemporary deployment practices.
• Experience with APIs and system integrations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
