This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Designing customized animation systems and extensions for Unreal Engine 5 to facilitate character locomotion & realistic behaviors, object & world interactions, large animated crowds, and much more.
• Creating gameplay mechanics associated with locomotion and animation.
• Collaborating closely on a daily basis with a diverse team of colleagues, including engineers, designers, and animators.
• Producing clean, high-quality, efficient C++ code.
• Maintaining, debugging, profiling, and fixing code to ensure optimal quality and performance.
• Documenting code and work processes, developing debug tools for fellow developers, and creating tests to cover existing functionalities.
• Over 5 years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing contemporary game animation systems.
• Comprehensive understanding of the integration of animations within complex animation blend trees and state graphs.
• Familiarity with IK systems and their interplay with traditional FK solutions to ensure characters are grounded in the environment.
• Insight into modern game animation system architectures.
• Profound knowledge of C++ programming.
• Advanced mathematical and algorithmic skills necessary for implementing tailored animation algorithms and functionalities.
• In-depth understanding of multithreading practices and algorithms.
• Thorough comprehension of the overall character animation & geometry deformation stack.
• Exceptional communication and teamwork abilities.
• Nice to have: Strong foundation in Unreal Engine 5, particularly features and systems pertaining to animation.
• Nice to have: Familiarity with motion-matching technology.
• Nice to have: Experience in developing a AAA title for game consoles, including debugging and profiling in a console environment.
• Nice to have: Proven experience in resolving performance issues related to a large number of animated NPCs.
• Nice to have: Experience in developing GPU-accelerated systems.
