Senior Analytics Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of analytics and reporting needs across the organization.

• Convert business inquiries into well-defined data requirements and outputs.

• Determine the appropriate solutions for needs, whether through dashboards, reports, datasets, or ad hoc analysis.

• Research and document data sources, reports, fields, and definitions of metrics.

• Align source data with existing data models (fact and dimension tables).

• Establish and maintain business logic and calculations for metrics.

• Ensure consistency between business definitions and data frameworks.

• Collaborate closely with Data Engineering to outline transformations, data models, data exposure layers, and validation criteria.

• Contribute to enhancing data pipelines and modeling techniques.

• Oversee dashboards for operational, executive, and ad hoc reporting.

• Guarantee that dashboards are accurate, user-friendly, and reliable.

• Perform quality assurance on outputs against source data and business expectations.

• Resolve discrepancies between systems and reports.

• Develop validation workflows to maintain ongoing data integrity.

• Identify deficiencies in data definitions, reporting logic, and processes.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to establish KPIs and reporting standards.

• Clearly communicate data logic to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Foster trust in reporting outputs through transparency and consistency.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years experience in data analytics, analytics engineering, or BI roles.

• Proficient in advanced SQL (including joins, aggregations, validation logic, and metric creation).

• Experience with contemporary data warehouses (BigQuery is preferred).

• Strong grasp of data modeling principles (fact and dimension tables).

• Familiar with BI tools (Looker Studio is preferred).

• Knowledge of Dataform (SQLX, workflows, or similar tools like dbt).

• Ability to read and comprehend transformation logic.

• Understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data pipelines.

• Proficient in JavaScript (for Dataform configurations or similar tasks).

• Experience with Python (for analysis, validation, or tooling purposes).

• Familiarity with Git / GitHub.

• Knowledge of D3.js and Streamlit (Nice to Have).

• Familiarity with Google Apps Script (Nice to Have).

• Experience with Cloud Run (Nice to Have).
