This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Guide and assist data analysts, data engineers, and developers, promoting a collaborative and psychologically supportive atmosphere.
• Establish rigorous standards for technical proficiency in SQL, dbt modeling, and LookML architecture.
• Partner with fellow analytics engineers to transition legacy logic from Redshift/Postgres into efficient Databricks silver and gold layers.
• Independently develop intricate data models in dbt, showcasing expertise in modularity, testing, and performance enhancement on Spark.
• Take ownership of the LookML layer, ensuring that our explores and dashboards are efficient, user-friendly, and precise.
• Function as a "Hybrid Analyst," adeptly balancing long-term engineering initiatives with immediate requests to support business needs.
• Convert stakeholder inquiries into Looker-based reports and visualizations, guaranteeing timely access to critical business insights.
• Drive technical data planning through discovery, design, and release phases, ensuring comprehensive documentation for data catalogs and version control.
• Spot opportunities for reducing "data debt" and enhancing architecture within our Lakehouse and semantic layers.
• Proactively manage system characteristics such as latency and throughput, ensuring our data pipelines are optimized for cost-efficiency and speed.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in your data domain, contributing to business strategy to ensure we focus on measuring what truly matters.
• Provide engineering insights on the product roadmap, effectively communicating data feasibility and reporting constraints.
• Over 5 years of hands-on experience in an Analytics Engineering or Data role, demonstrating a strong record of technical leadership in B2B/SaaS environments.
• Extensive experience in architecting dbt projects and overseeing complex Looker environments.
• Proficient in using Looker (or similar BI tools like Tableau or Power BI) to create dashboards and address intricate data requests.
• Strong architectural comprehension of modern data stacks, with validated experience in Databricks.
• Expertise in writing, refining, and troubleshooting advanced SQL queries.
• A keen interest in learning and discovering how AI/LLMs (such as Google Gemini) can be incorporated into the data lifecycle.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across functions, gathering requirements and delivering results to various teams and departments.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; capable of conveying complex technical concepts to anyone within the organization.
