This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Assist in the development and enhancement of finite element models for electric propulsion engine assemblies utilizing ANSA as the pre-processor.
• Conduct linear static analyses in Nastran for both limit and ultimate load scenarios; verify results for accuracy and report any discrepancies.
• Provide support for nonlinear analysis tasks in Ansys under the supervision of senior engineers.
• Post-process analysis results using Meta; create plots, summary tables, and preliminary findings for evaluation.
• Ensure traceability between analysis inputs (loads, geometry updates, material properties) and the corresponding outputs.
• Prepare sections of analysis reports with oversight and guidance from the lead engineer.
• Work collaboratively with design and loads teams to promptly integrate design modifications and updated boundary conditions into models.
• Actively enhance technical skills through practical experience, code reviews, and mentorship from senior team members.
• A Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or a related Engineering discipline.
• 2–4 years of finite element analysis (FEA) experience with structural assemblies, including meshing in ANSA or a comparable pre-processor.
• Proficient in Nastran for performing linear static analysis.
• Familiar with results post-processing in Meta, FEMAP, or similar tools.
• Basic comprehension of structural mechanics concepts: stress, strain, load paths, and bolted joint behavior.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities to manage analysis inputs and outputs through multiple design iterations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A team-oriented approach with a readiness to receive and act on technical feedback.
• Academic or internship experience in rotating machinery, powertrains, or electromechanical structural analysis.
• Familiarity with Ansys for nonlinear structural analysis challenges.
• Experience in Python or MATLAB scripting for FEA pre/post-processing.
• Knowledge of aerospace structural analysis methods for composite or metallic materials.
• Understanding of FAA certification requirements for Part 23 or Part 27 aircraft.
• Experience with PDM/PLM tools for managing version-controlled models.
