This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Oversee intricate data integration projects from the design phase to production deployment, guaranteeing that solutions are scalable, observable, and conform to enterprise architecture standards.
• Create and execute production-quality data pipelines (both batch and streaming) that convert raw inputs into reliable curated outputs, including robust error handling, validation, and reconciliation controls.
• Promote and establish engineering best practices for ETL/ELT patterns, workflow orchestration, data quality controls, and operational observability across the team and value streams.
• Lead technical decision-making regarding pipeline architecture, technology choices, and design patterns, balancing business needs with technical viability and long-term sustainability.
• Collaborate with PPD on technical planning and feasibility, offering realistic estimates, identifying technical dependencies, and refining scope to ensure achievable delivery commitments.
• Perform thorough code reviews for SME-built and team-developed pipelines, ensuring compliance with standards for maintainability, testing, logging, data validation, and documentation.
• Prepare IT-ready handover documents, including technical documentation, test evidence, operational procedures, and clearly defined support boundaries.
• Enhance pipeline performance and cost-efficiency through suitable partitioning strategies, caching, incremental processing patterns, and tuning of compute resources.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Over 8 years of experience in data engineering, data integration, or similar technical roles with increasing responsibility.
• More than 3 years of experience in technical leadership roles, including mentoring engineers and spearheading complex technical initiatives.
• A proven history of designing and implementing production data pipelines within intricate enterprise environments.
• Expertise in ETL/ELT design patterns, data pipeline architecture, and workflow orchestration frameworks.
• Advanced programming abilities in languages commonly utilized in data engineering (Python, SQL, Scala, or similar).
• A strong grasp of data quality frameworks, data validation techniques, reconciliation patterns, and anomaly detection.
• Experience in implementing observability, monitoring, and alerting systems for production data pipelines.
• Familiarity with data governance principles, metadata management, and compliance frameworks.
• Proficiency in English is required.
