This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +33 more states.
β’ Take ownership of the entire product lifecycle independently: AI-enhanced discovery β story/spec β prototype β production PR β outcome assessment. You are responsible for the results, not just the transition.
β’ Perform customer discovery and utilize AI tools to consolidate research from tickets, interviews, behavioral data, and competitive indicators.
β’ Exhibit extensive functional and technical expertise of the products you manage from start to finish. Present to merchants and partners; understand the competitive landscape and key differentiators.
β’ Leverage AI tools to evaluate product metrics, uncover usage trends, and identify anomalies. Establish success metrics and kill thresholds during the specification phase without external guidance.
β’ Keep a prioritized roadmap organized by impact and speed. Use AI tools to integrate competitive intelligence, market trends, and customer insights into strategic directives.
β’ Assess the compatibility of proposed solutions with ShipBob's architecture without needing Engineering translation. Grasp service boundaries, data structures, and how merchant and partner API interactions influence data contracts.
β’ Direct changes through prototype-then-PR. Draft clear story/specs and review AI-generated code prior to submission. Consistently enhance PR promotion rates.
β’ Formulate experiment hypotheses with clearly defined kill thresholds. Make rollout/kill decisions on day-7 based on AI-sourced data.
β’ Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as required.
β’ You will implement this builder model on one of ShipBob's most operationally essential product surfaces β Sortation Technology.
β’ Convert merchant, marketplace, and channel requirements into sortation capabilities throughout the fulfillment lifecycle. The performance of sortation influences outcomes for DTC, marketplace, B2B/retail, and returns flows: on-time shipping, compliance with marketplace and retailer routing guidelines, inventory accuracy, and proper returns disposition. Prioritize the roadmap around the most impactful pain points.
β’ Bridge the gap between system signals and physical realities across all sortation surfaces. Sortation errors manifest as visible defects for merchants: late shipments, mis-sorts, missing tracking events, mis-routed returns, and inaccuracies in inventory at stowing. Develop the tools, workflows, and verification signals that prevent these issues.
β’ Collaborate with Operations to facilitate product adoption. Work directly with Fulfillment Center, Sort Center, Inbound, and Returns leadership, alongside Process Engineering and Transportation. Transform new tools into standard operating procedures and measurable performance enhancements across all sortation surfaces β from manual sorting to future automated unit sorters.
β’ Influence the metrics that define sortation performance β outbound execution SLAs (Click-to-Collect, Mis-sort Rate, Container Audit Defect Rate), inbound rebuilding outcomes (drop-to-stock, SLA adherence), B2B compliance (SLA, load accuracy, retailer routing guide compliance), and returns processing (cycle time, disposition accuracy).
β’ Over 5 years of experience in product management, product engineering, or a related field, with a proven track record of using AI tools in a professional environment.
β’ Demonstrated ability to write story/specs that AI tools can directly act upon β including state machines, business rules, data contracts, and edge cases β rather than narrative PRDs.
β’ Technical proficiency: capable of reading a data model, assessing an API contract, and recognizing when AI-generated code diverges from the intended architecture.
β’ History of delivering functional prototypes or production code, not merely Figma designs or presentation slides.
β’ Strong sense of outcome ownership: establishes success metrics and kill thresholds during specification and monitors them post-launch.
β’ Experience in supply chain, fulfillment, logistics, transportation, or e-commerce technology. Familiarity with sortation technology is a significant advantage.
β’ Comfortable working within a fail-fast culture. Rapidly identifying errors is seen as a feature here β being slow to appear correct is viewed as a failure.
β’ Exceptional written communication skills: you produce specs, not meeting notes.
