Senior AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Uruguay.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable solutions centered around AI and Generative AI.

• Create applications powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), intelligent assistants, copilots, AI agents, and automated workflows.

• Architect and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks.

• Execute semantic search, embeddings, knowledge retrieval, and vector database implementations.

• Integrate Large Language Models via Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs, or comparable AI platforms.

• Develop prompts, tools, function-calling workflows, and mechanisms for agent orchestration.

• Assess and select AI models, frameworks, and architectures tailored to specific use cases.

• Establish evaluation criteria and oversee the accuracy, quality, latency, security, and cost-effectiveness of AI solutions.

• Incorporate AI functionalities into existing software products and enterprise applications.

• Convert business requirements into scalable, secure, and production-ready technical solutions.

• Provide technical guidance and set development standards and best practices for AI initiatives.

• Collaborate with cross-functional technical and business teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• 6+ years of professional experience in software development, solution design, or application architecture.

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing Artificial Intelligence solutions.

• Demonstrated expertise in developing Generative AI and Large Language Model applications.

• Strong background in RAG, Prompt Engineering, embeddings, semantic search, and vector databases.

• Experience in building AI agents and implementing Tool Calling or Function Calling.

• Familiarity with integrating Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs, or similar cloud-based AI services.

• Proficient in software development using Python and/or C#/.NET.

• Experience in designing and integrating REST APIs.

• Knowledgeable in Git, relational databases, software architecture, and cloud-based solutions.

• Proven track record of transitioning AI prototypes or proofs of concept into production.

• Capability to translate business needs into technical AI solutions.

• Ability to lead technical decisions and work in collaboration with software development teams.

• Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure OpenAI Service, Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, or Azure Machine Learning.

• Familiarity with Semantic Kernel, LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, or CrewAI.

• Understanding of Model Context Protocol (MCP).

• Experience in AI evaluation, observability, guardrails, and prompt management.

• Background in fine-tuning or customizing models.

• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, or Azure DevOps.

• Familiarity with Angular, React, or modern frontend technologies.

• Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.

• Knowledge of Machine Learning, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learn.

• Awareness of Responsible AI, AI governance, data privacy, and application security.

• Previous roles as a Technical Lead, Software Architect, AI Solutions Architect, or mentor.
