Senior AI Engineer – AI Agents, OpenAI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Design and implement features powered by AI: integrate LLM and develop AI agents.

• Create and implement comprehensive (frontend and backend) non-AI features, services, and business logic to complete the solution.

• Build and maintain MCP servers to provide domain data and capabilities as tools for AI agents.

• Execute RAG workflows to anchor LLM responses in factual data using embeddings, chunking, and vector databases.

• Optimize and instrument OpenAI integrations for cost efficiency, latency, and accuracy in production environments.

• Collaborate with product, design, and architecture teams to create outstanding user experiences based on AI.

• Engage in technical design reviews, influencing architectural choices and engineering standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of server-side engineering experience, focused on designing and developing enterprise-scale software systems.

• More than 6 years of professional backend engineering experience, with at least 3 years in TypeScript/Node.js.

• At least 9 months of commercial experience in building AI features utilizing the OpenAI ecosystem.

• Practical expertise with the OpenAI Agents SDK, including building and orchestrating AI agents with features like tool/function calling, assistants, streaming interactions, and stateful workflows.

• Experience in designing and implementing MCP servers to integrate external capabilities with LLMs.

• Demonstrated ability to create structured prompt architectures with evaluations, guardrails, and observability.

• Familiarity with RAG concepts: embeddings, chunking, vector search, and retrieval orchestration.

• Strong fundamentals in developing secure, high-performance, production-grade APIs and backend systems.

• Experience with CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and cloud infrastructure.

• Understanding of semantic search concepts is a significant advantage.

• Experience in a leadership role within a team is a valuable asset.

• Exposure to alternative LLM providers (e.g., Anthropic, Mistral AI, Hugging Face) is a strong advantage.

• Experience with streaming UIs, conversational UX, and SSE/WebSockets.

• Knowledge of prompt injection defenses and responsible AI practices is beneficial.
