This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Take ownership of AI architecture across various cloud platforms (AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI)—you will be responsible for decisions on our projects and their execution.
• Design end-to-end RAG systems, encompassing document ingestion, chunking strategies, retrieval optimization, and generation quality.
• Develop agentic systems utilizing contemporary patterns such as MCP (Model Context Protocol), tool usage, function calling, and orchestration frameworks like LangGraph.
• Establish observability and evaluation metrics to ensure our AI solutions are effective in production environments—not just performing well in demos.
• Manage costs on a large scale—assessing model selection tradeoffs, token economics, and budget projections as we expand.
• Set up guardrails and compliance measures, particularly related to healthcare data and HIPAA regulations.
• Mentor and support implementation-level developers as the team evolves.
• Deliver production systems—this role involves not only strategy but also hands-on coding and deploying tangible solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
• Over 5 years of experience in AI/ML development.
• At least 2 years in architectural leadership or technical lead positions.
• Demonstrated success in architecting and deploying AI/ML systems within production environments.
• Experience in designing systems that manage sensitive data with suitable security and compliance measures.
• Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, or a related discipline.
• Experience in environments regulated by HIPAA.
• Background in the insurance or healthcare payer industries.
• Proven experience in building and leading AI/ML teams.
• Technical Knowledge Required: Extensive expertise in AWS Bedrock and/or Google Vertex AI.
• Proficiency with large language models (Claude, GPT, Gemini) and their APIs.
• Practical experience in building RAG systems from start to finish—including document ingestion, parsing, chunking strategies, embedding models, vector databases, and retrieval optimization.
• Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, pgvector, or similar).
• Strong foundation in prompt engineering and integration patterns for LLMs.
• Hands-on experience with agentic patterns: MCP (Model Context Protocol), tool-use/function calling, ReAct, Plan-and-Execute, or similar methods.
• Experience with orchestration frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain, or similar).
• Proven ability to design and implement AI observability and evaluation systems.
• History of managing costs related to AI infrastructure and optimizing token economics.
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript for AI/ML development.
• Experience in designing secure, scalable API ecosystems (REST, GraphQL).
• Preferred: Familiarity with LLM Ops tools (LangSmith, Weights & Biases, Arize, Helicone, or similar).
• Understanding of HIPAA compliance frameworks and PHI data handling standards.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for ML systems.
• Knowledge of data governance and lineage tracking.
• Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
• A dynamic and innovative work environment.
• Opportunities for professional growth and development.
• Flexibility for remote work.
