This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Design and develop machine learning systems that drive enterprise search, retrieval, recommendations, and AI agents.
• Create evaluation frameworks and metrics to assess the quality, performance, and business impact of LLM-powered applications.
• Construct scalable data and machine learning pipelines for extensive AI interaction data.
• Utilize statistical modeling, experimentation, and causal inference to inform product development and strategic decision-making.
• Work collaboratively with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to convert research and insights into actionable production features.
• Examine product usage and customer behavior to enhance AI adoption, productivity, and overall user experience.
• Prototype, assess, and implement AI capabilities using foundation models, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation techniques.
• Establish key performance indicators and analytical frameworks to guide product strategy and company-wide decision-making.
• Identify opportunities to harness machine learning and generative AI within the AI platform.
• Provide mentorship to junior team members and promote best practices in data science, experimentation, and machine learning.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Data Science, Applied Machine Learning, or quantitative research, or 3 years with a PhD.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Economics, Physics, or a similarly quantitative field.
• Strong expertise in Python and SQL.
• Proven experience in constructing scalable data and machine learning pipelines.
• In-depth knowledge of statistics, experimentation, causal inference, and predictive modeling.
• Experience in developing and deploying machine learning models in production environments.
• Familiarity with handling large-scale datasets and contemporary data infrastructure.
• Knowledge of LLMs, embeddings, retrieval systems, RAG, or AI agents.
• Ability to transform ambiguous challenges into quantifiable solutions.
• Exceptional communication skills and capability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and leadership teams.
• Comfort in a fast-paced, high-ownership startup environment.
• Located in NYC with the capacity to work from the Brooklyn office, or the option to work remotely.
• For remote positions, must be based in the U.S. and willing to travel up to 30% of the year for team collaboration.
• Preferred: experience in building or assessing LLM-powered products or AI applications.
• Preferred: background in search technologies, recommendation systems, information retrieval, or knowledge graphs.
• Preferred: experience in designing A/B tests, offline evaluations, and machine learning benchmarking frameworks.
• Preferred: familiarity with vector databases, embedding models, and agent orchestration frameworks.
• Preferred: contributions to open-source machine learning projects or publications in the fields of machine learning, NLP, or related disciplines.
