This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska, +1 more state.
• Act as the primary accounting lead for designated CCRC third-party management contracts.
• Supervise the month-end closing procedures and ensure compliance with contracts.
• Oversee and uphold financial controls, reporting deadlines, and obligations outlined in management agreements.
• Serve as the main accounting liaison for client Board of Directors and external parties.
• Assist in the onboarding process for new communities and management contracts.
• Manage and coordinate the complete month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Guarantee the integrity of the balance sheet through thorough reconciliation reviews and resolution of issues.
• Function as a senior resource for technical accounting, conducting research on U.S. GAAP.
• Draft formal technical accounting memorandums that support accounting conclusions.
• Take ownership of the preparation, review, and monthly approval of all balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Evaluate staff performance with a keen eye, providing prompt feedback and mentorship.
• Collaborate with external auditors and manage audit requests.
• Identify and implement process enhancements in accounting operations.
• Act as a vital accounting stakeholder during system implementations.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
• Over 7 years of accounting experience, preferably within a non-profit organization.
• An active CPA license is mandatory.
• Experience in public accounting is preferred.
• Proven experience in client-facing roles, including direct interaction with Board members.
• At least 4 years of experience in people management or supervisory roles.
• Experience in multi-entity, regulated environments such as senior living, healthcare, nonprofit, or real estate is preferred.
• Background in supporting external audits and complex accounting reviews.
• Strong understanding of financial principles, GAAP, and month-end closing processes.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, with the capability to articulate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Proficient in financial software and systems, including advanced Excel skills.
