This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Execute royalty accounting closing activities, which include making journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and conducting variance analysis for US Trade and Macmillan Learning.
• Reconcile royalty sub-ledger balances with the SAP general ledger while investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
• Assist in ongoing process improvement initiatives related to royalty document types and GL coding issues stemming from the Biblio environment.
• Aid in royalty system migrations and enhancements, encompassing data validation, parallel testing, and balance reconciliation during the transition.
• Support the preparation of audit schedules and respond to requests from external auditors related to annual financial statement audits.
• Contribute to the documentation of workflows, identify control weaknesses, and implement improvements in accounting processes.
• Collaborate with the Legal and Rights teams to interpret contract terms, ensuring accurate accounting treatment.
• Address inquiries from internal stakeholders regarding royalty balances and accounting positions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or CPA candidate is preferred.
• 4-6 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years specifically in royalty accounting or publishing.
• Expert-level proficiency in SAP, including GL postings, account reconciliations, and reporting tasks.
• Advanced skills in Excel, particularly in managing and reconciling large datasets.
• Strong comprehension of IFRS standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
• Relevant experience in book publishing or the media/entertainment industry.
• Familiarity with royalty systems, especially Vista and/or Fadel (IPM), and Biblio.
• Experience with system migration and data conversion initiatives.
• Background in supporting Big Four audit engagements.
