Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Taking full ownership of the Month End process for designated clients from start to finish.

• Preparing data for transfer to the tax accountant for annual data preparation (having experience in AU business services/tax will be highly advantageous).

• Preparing IAS/BAS, along with reviewing simple BASs created by junior personnel.

• Reviewing bookkeeping entries and standing journals submitted by junior staff, ensuring that any errors are rectified before finalizing the month end.

• Identifying prepayments and accruals and posting them to month end files as necessary.

• Calculating the year-to-date income tax position for business entities, including adjustments for prepayments, accruals, and permanent tax differences.

• Compiling, reviewing, and finalizing reports for client delivery.

• Reviewing workpapers and documents prepared by junior staff.

• Preparing workpapers for the Director’s review.

• Conducting trend analysis and P&L reviews.

• Drafting correspondence for clients.

• Assisting other team members with Accounts Payable responsibilities, including data entry and reconciliations.

• Supporting advisory tasks such as forecasting and client analysis.

• Mentoring and training junior staff on the aforementioned processes and aiding in their technical development.

• Assisting in the creation of process instructions and documentation of operating procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in AU accounting, preferably within business services/tax at an AU accounting firm.

• Commerce experience is considered beneficial, though not essential or mandatory.

• CPA Qualified or equivalent.

• A completed Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a major in accounting.
