• Assist in the monthly and quarterly processes for closing financial statements.
• Prepare reconciliations for assigned accounts and conduct thorough analyses to identify and rectify discrepancies.
• Generate fluctuation analyses and provide clear insights into financial trends and variances.
• Prepare and record month-end journal entries along with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Review, investigate, and amend accounting errors, inconsistencies, and reporting issues.
• Maintain and monitor financial statement close checklists and supporting schedules for SEC filings (10-Q and 10-K).
• Engage in quarterly review procedures and annual external audits, responding to requests and inquiries from auditors.
• Ensure adherence to GAAP, internal controls, and organizational accounting policies.
• Proactively communicate any accounting, financial reporting, or control issues to management.
• Oversee the fixed asset system and related depreciation schedules.
• Reconcile the General Ledger to Subledger for fixed assets.
• Evaluate property, plant, and equipment for impairment indicators and conduct impairment testing when necessary.
• Track capital expenditures against approved budgets and expenditure authorizations.
• Review invoices and purchase requisitions to ensure proper coding.
• Identify prepaid expenses and guarantee appropriate accounting treatment.
• Maintain prepaid schedules and prepare amortization journal entries.
• Prepare reconciliations for various asset accounts.
• Assist with the preparation and electronic submission of U.S. sales and use tax returns.
• Monitor and confirm the accuracy of system-generated sales tax reports.
• Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations related to sales and use tax accruals.
• Support audits, exposure analyses, refund analyses, and jurisdiction notices as required.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of cost accounting processes and SOX 404(b) compliance initiatives.
• Provide financial and accounting assistance to internal stakeholders throughout the organization.
• Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives as necessary.
• Collaborate with team members to enhance efficiency, scalability, and operational excellence within the accounting department.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• CPA certification is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in general ledger accounting is necessary.
• Experience in biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, or related industries is strongly preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
