This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Prepare monthly accruals for clinical trials, prepaid roll-forwards, and reconciliations in line with ASC 730 standards.

• Collect enrollment, site activity, and milestone data from Clinical Operations to aid in accrual calculations.

• Examine CRO and clinical site invoices against contracted milestones and fee schedules; identify and investigate discrepancies.

• Assist with the accounting of R&D expenses, including accruals, prepaid amortization, and cost allocations.

• Help with technical accounting evaluations of new and amended clinical trial agreements.

• Maintain supporting schedules and documentation related to clinical trial and R&D accounting activities.

• Collaborate across functions with Clinical Operations, Legal, Procurement, and FP&A to ensure precise and timely accounting for research-related expenditures.

• Aid in the monthly and quarterly financial statement closing processes.

• Prepare and post month-end journal entries, ensuring appropriate supporting documentation is included.

• Conduct account reconciliations and detailed analyses to identify and rectify discrepancies.

• Generate fluctuation analyses and provide insights into financial trends and variances.

• Review, investigate, and rectify accounting errors, inconsistencies, and reporting issues.

• Ensure adherence to GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.

• Actively communicate any accounting, financial reporting, or control issues to management.

• Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing supporting documentation.

• Implement SOX 404(b) controls related to clinical trial and R&D accounting processes.

• Contribute to process enhancements across clinical trial and R&D accounting workflows.

• Engage in automation, scalability, and operational efficiency initiatives within the accounting function.

• Work with team members to enhance reporting accuracy and streamline month-end closing processes.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

• CPA certification is preferred.

• A minimum of 2-3 years of accounting or audit experience is required.

• A background in public accounting/audit is required; experience with Big 4 firms is strongly preferred.

• Experience in the biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, or pharmaceutical industries is strongly preferred.

• Experience in supporting R&D or clinical trial accounting activities is preferred.

• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
