Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Implement ASC 606 revenue recognition standards across subscriptions, services, and additional offerings.

• Oversee deferred revenue schedules that encompass renewals, upgrades/downgrades, contract modifications, and multi-year agreements.

• Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success to ensure accurate billing and that contract terms align with appropriate accounting practices.

• Enhance quote-to-cash processes by pinpointing gaps, risks, and areas for control improvements.

• Provide guidance on sales tax calculations, filings, nexus monitoring, and compliance protocols.

• Manage essential elements of the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including timelines, tasks, and deliverables within your scope.

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.

• Ensure GL integrity and compliance with U.S. GAAP standards.

• Develop clear support and documentation for accounting conclusions and closing deliverables.

• Assist with audit requests and year-end reporting, including the preparation of schedules and addressing inquiries.

• Support accounts payable, expense management, credit card transactions, payroll accounting, and accruals as required.

• Aid in cash management, bank reconciliations, and treasury-related tasks.

• Maintain and enhance accounting workflows, close checklists, and internal control measures.

• Document policies and procedures to enable team scalability without disorder.

• Utilize modern AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Excel/Sheets Copilots, and others) daily to expedite reconciliations, flux analysis, research memos, and accounting documentation.

• Identify and execute AI-driven automation across the closing process, revenue operations, and quote-to-cash by collaborating with Finance, RevOps, and IT to deploy the right tools effectively.

• Establish practical review practices and controls for AI-generated outputs to ensure the accuracy, explainability, and audit-readiness of all materials relied upon.

• Adopt an experimental mindset — consistently test new AI tools and techniques, share successful approaches (and failures), and assist the wider team in enhancing their AI proficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline — CPA or CPA-track is preferred.

• 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within SaaS or technology sectors.

• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and practical knowledge of ASC 606 — essential.

• Experience managing significant aspects of month-end close with well-supported workpapers.

• Familiarity with modern accounting and revenue tools (such as QuickBooks Online, Maxio or similar, Avalara, Paylocity, HubSpot, Mosaic, or equivalent) — required.

• Advanced Excel / Google Sheets proficiency with strong analytical skills.

• Practical experience utilizing AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft/Google Copilots, or similar) to streamline accounting tasks — or a proven ability to quickly learn and thoughtfully apply new tools.

• Good judgment regarding where AI is beneficial and where human oversight is essential, combined with the discipline to implement appropriate controls around AI-driven outputs.

• Experience with multi-entity and/or multi-state operations — preferred.

• Background in audit support (public accounting or in-house readiness oversight) — preferred.

• A humble, eager, and intelligent approach to your work — prioritizing teamwork, being proactive, and exercising sound judgment.
