Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger closures — prepare designated reconciliations, enter journal entries, and meet close calendar deadlines.

• Create account reconciliations for cash, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, intercompany, accounts payable, and more — ensuring documentation meets audit standards. (Accounts receivable reconciliations are managed by the revenue accounting team.)

• Generate recurring and accrual journal entries with the necessary support; communicate cutoff or judgment calls to the Director of Accounting.

• Collaborate with our offshore accounts payable team on day-to-day operations — review their outputs, manage exceptions and escalations, assist with vendor onboarding, and compile accounts payable reconciliations.

• Process and review expense reports; assist with intercompany, fixed asset, and prepaid schedules.

• Contribute to variance analysis — identify discrepancies, draft preliminary commentary, and escalate any unresolved issues to the Director of Accounting.

• Facilitate external audit requests for prepared by client (PBC) documentation — gather required documents, prepare schedules, and address auditor inquiries for assigned areas.

• Adhere to and help enhance the close playbook maintained by the Director of Accounting. Propose improvements and identify areas that require attention.

• Leverage AI in your daily closing procedures — for reconciliation matching, anomaly detection, journal entry drafting assistance, narrative generation, and vendor research. Share effective AI practices with the rest of the team.

• Provide support to tax, treasury, and FP&A colleagues regarding data and reporting needs as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on involvement in the close cycle.

• Active CPA is preferred. A strong foundation in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) is a plus.

• Proficient understanding of US GAAP at the operational level — including accruals, deferrals, capitalization, intercompany transactions, foreign currency, and cutoff. Must know when to seek clarification.

• A proven AI-native working style — utilizes large language models (LLMs) daily for accounting tasks and can discuss effectively what AI excels at and where it may fall short in closing processes. While team infrastructure building is not required, the instinct should be present.

• Comfortable with coding small scripts (Python, SQL, Apps Script) for reconciliations, data extraction, and automation. Expected to write minor scripts that enhance efficiency for the team.

• Strong execution skills — meticulous, organized, and committed to completing tasks.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills — capable of drafting clear reconciliation memos, posing precise inquiries, and articulating variances to non-financial operations leaders without losing clarity.

• High integrity, strong sense of ownership, and low ego.

• Prior experience assisting with a first external audit.

• Experience in accounting for SaaS or AI startups.

• Familiarity with NetSuite, Rillet, FloQast, BlackLine, Ramp, or similar tools — with insights developed through practical use.

• Exposure to multi-entity and international intercompany accounting.

• Experience in contributing to an ERP migration or close tooling implementation (leadership in this area is not expected).
