This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.
• Prepares financial statements for the community and aids in the external reporting of the company's financial outcomes.
• Upholds the integrity of the general ledger by applying generally accepted accounting principles to all transactions.
• Provides assistance and training to less experienced accountants.
• Completes account reconciliations for balance sheets and bank accounts by the designated due dates, researching and resolving reconciling items promptly.
• Reviews cost center and chart of account structures, making recommendations to properly categorize expenses; aids in managing annual expenditures and optimizes data processing support needed for month-end.
• Prepares, verifies, and oversees the entry of journal entries into the general ledger.
• Assesses subsidiary journals for obvious errors and omissions, entering corrected data into the general ledger, including monthly journal entries and executing month-end closing entries by cost center and natural account.
• Reviews monthly balance sheets and profit-and-loss statements for accuracy.
• Manages the monthly closing process and the production of statements to ensure timely reporting.
• Reviews, redesigns, and enhances online financial statements to ensure that reported information accurately reflects the company's financial status.
• Reviews and updates monthly closing procedures.
• Examines supporting subsidiary schedules to confirm adherence to the company's accounting practices, such as insurance and fixed assets; provides recommendations.
• Ensures that all processes are properly documented and assists in the ongoing documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
• Prepares audit schedules and responds to auditor inquiries during financial audits, SOX audits, or any other audit.
• Monitors and tracks cash outflows, providing essential updates to management.
• Engages with field personnel, delivering exceptional customer service by explaining and addressing questions regarding monthly operating activities, investigating variances, and providing detailed charge information and booking re-class entries.
• Communicates with third-party financial institutions and regulatory bodies.
• A Bachelor's degree (BA) from an accredited four-year college or university, along with three to five years of relevant experience.
• Applies established guidelines and procedures to make various decisions within the department.
• Utilizes sound judgment and experience to address moderately complex problems based on precedent, example, reasonableness, or a combination of these factors.
• Possesses extensive knowledge of a specific skill or function and a comprehensive understanding of the organization and work environment.
