This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of and execute your designated responsibilities during the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations — consistently meeting deadlines.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring thoroughness and precision in compliance with GAAP standards.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and variance analyses for management's evaluation.
• Maintain and enhance the close calendar, proactively identifying risks and facilitating the timely resolution of outstanding issues.
• Conduct daily and monthly cash reconciliations across various bank accounts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
• Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies promptly.
• Aid in cash flow forecasting by keeping current cash position reports.
• Accrue customer payments accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain an audit-ready customer payments schedule, collaborating closely with the Energy Markets and Engineering teams to address underperformance, portfolio impacts, or other factors affecting customer payments.
• Assist in the timely distribution of customer payment batches at the conclusion of each program season.
• Collaborate with the Sales team to ensure adherence to contract payment timing requirements.
• Calculate and process quarterly sales commissions according to compensation plans, ensuring both accuracy and timely disbursement.
• Maintain commission schedules and assist with accrual entries, reconciling actuals against estimates each period.
• Partner with Sales to resolve commission-related disputes and support plan modeling as the business expands.
• Identify repetitive manual accounting tasks and lead or assist in automation initiatives utilizing tools such as Excel (Power Query/Macros), QBO workflows, or third-party automation platforms.
• Document standard operating procedures for essential accounting processes and keep process documentation up to date.
• Work collaboratively across Operations, Engineering, and Finance to enhance data flows between systems.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance team — propose, test, and implement more efficient working methods.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• 5-7 years of accounting experience; a background in public accounting is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles and general ledger accounting.
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP systems such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar is preferred.
• Familiarity with cash reconciliations and month-end closing processes.
• Excellent attention to detail with the capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
