
Security Hardware Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Install, set up, and commission security devices such as surveillance cameras, access control panels, card readers, alarm sensors, and integration hardware.
• Conduct thorough preventive and corrective maintenance on all security hardware systems.
• Identify equipment failures, replace faulty components, upgrade firmware, adjust camera angles and focus, calibrate sensors, and repair or substitute damaged cabling and connections.
• Monitor the performance of security hardware using diagnostic tools and system health dashboards.
• Execute real-time troubleshooting in the event of hardware malfunctions.
• Keep detailed technical records of all installations, repairs, maintenance activities, and system configurations.
• Install, set up, and maintain access control hardware, including electronic locks, card readers, biometric scanners, and door controllers.
• Provide technical support for integrated security systems to ensure effective communication between surveillance, access control, and alarm hardware components.
• Test and verify all emergency exit hardware, alarm notification devices, and life safety integration points.
• A valid driver's license is necessary for travel to equipment locations and vendor sites.
• Preferred industry certifications include Security+, manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Axis, Milestone, Genetec), or equivalent technical qualifications.
• Proven experience in installing, configuring, and repairing CCTV systems, IP cameras, and video management hardware.
• Solid understanding of security hardware architecture, network connectivity, PoE systems, and low-voltage wiring.
• Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, cable testers, multimeters, and diagnostic equipment.
• Familiarity with access control hardware components, electronic locking mechanisms, and credential technologies.
• Experience in preventive maintenance procedures, technical troubleshooting methodologies, and root cause analysis.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills for system configuration and hardware diagnostics.
• Capacity to install and service security hardware at various heights using ladders, lifts, or scaffolding.
• Ability to work in a variety of environments including outdoor locations, equipment rooms, ceiling spaces, and confined areas.
• Physical capability to lift and transport equipment (up to 50 lbs), climb ladders, and work in different positions for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity for precise tasks such as cable termination, component replacement, and hardware adjustment.
