This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Provide guidance to students and families regarding academic matters, career planning, and graduation.
• Stay informed about all requirements for high school graduation.
• Assist students and their parents in the secondary school course selection process.
• Counsel students on issues related to course drops and schedule changes.
• Review student transcripts and ensure accurate entry of credits into the online transcript system.
• Implement programs aimed at addressing interpersonal adjustment issues for students and families.
• Engage in the creation of crisis prevention and management strategies.
• Coordinate with a team of educators to identify students who may be “at risk” or “in crisis.”
• Oversee and maintain each student’s Personal Learning Plan (PLP).
• Support families throughout the school withdrawal process.
• Report and refer critical incidents that may threaten student well-being.
• Assist teachers with students who enroll mid-semester.
• Facilitate special programs including Advanced Placement support and SAT/ACT preparation.
• Help students research and comprehend their post-secondary education and career pathways.
• Aid students in preparing applications for college and job opportunities.
• Collaborate within a Professional Learning Community (PLC).
• Texas School Counseling Certification is mandatory.
• Willingness to travel 15-20% for school-related activities (such as state testing, marketing, professional development, and meetings).
• Overnight travel may be required.
• Proficient in technology, particularly with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
