School Counselor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance to students and families regarding academic matters, career planning, and graduation processes.

• Execute programs for students addressing interpersonal adjustment challenges, which include individual and small group counseling services.

• Collaborate with school teams to identify and assist families in accessing educational and community resources.

• Engage in the creation of crisis prevention and management strategies for the school, serving as a vital member of the Student Support Team (SST).

• Ensure the collection and maintenance of complete and accurate records for Connections Academy students.

• Report and refer critical incidents that threaten student welfare, as mandated by legal, administrative, or ethical guidelines.

• Remain informed about all state regulations regarding incident reporting and documentation.

• Assist teachers with the enrollment of students mid-semester, ensuring that educators receive guidance on integrating these students into their coursework, while appropriately managing previous grades, credits, and evaluations.

• Confirm that students are receiving necessary phone communications in accordance with Connections Academy protocols.

• Deliver a comprehensive counseling program that encompasses college/career readiness and social-emotional learning.

• Facilitate professional development initiatives for teachers and school staff members.

• Act as Adviser for the National Junior Honor Society/National Honor Society.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Florida Professional Teacher Certification in Guidance and Counseling is required.

• ESOL Certification or Endorsement is mandatory.

• Strong understanding of Florida graduation requirements is preferred.

• Knowledge of and experience with RtI/MTSS is essential.

• Proficient technology skills are required.

• Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written, are necessary.

• A customer-focused approach is essential.

• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills are required.

• High degree of flexibility is necessary.

• A collaborative team player with proven leadership capabilities.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment is essential.

• Access to reliable transportation for in-person events is required.

• Availability to work occasional evening hours when needed to support families.

• Must be able to utilize a personal electronic device and have an email address for 2-step authentication.
