Scala Developer, Java

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bring a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in developing server-side applications using Scala or Java.

• Possess a working knowledge of Scala and SBT (Scala Build Tool), or demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and transition from Java.

• Show experience or interest in frameworks like Pekko/Akka, including HTTP, Actors, Cluster, Persistence, Streams, and connectors.

• Have an understanding of the JVM, as well as data structures and algorithms.

• Demonstrate a solid understanding of parallel and concurrent programming principles.

• Have experience or a keen interest in developing high-scale, distributed systems with complex interfaces and integrations.

• Think like an engineer—taking ownership, driving solutions forward, and continuously enhancing systems and processes.

• Exhibit strong problem-solving abilities and a curiosity to learn.

• Show a willingness to document solutions and actively share knowledge with team members.

• Communicate clearly and effectively in English.

• Previous experience in the iGaming domain will be an advantage.

• Experience with Typesafe Config is a plus.

• Hands-on experience with Couchbase or other document-based NoSQL databases is desirable.

• Familiarity with AWS services such as S3 and DynamoDB is beneficial.

• Experience using Play JSON is a plus.

• Proficiency in ScalaTest for testing purposes is required.

• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker, Nomad, or Kubernetes is advantageous.

• Confidence in working within Linux environments is essential.
