Scala Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing new functionalities on our software platform.

• You will utilize software engineering principles in the design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of our software.

• You will ensure that the software you create is secure and compliant with information security and personal data standards.

• We expect you to engage actively in meetings and projects while coordinating effectively with your team members.

• You should also focus on your personal development and stay updated on the latest industry advancements.

• You will document your work, ensuring that your documentation is clear and comprehensible for future reference by others.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in developing backend systems using Scala.

• Demonstrated expertise in functional programming principles, with practical experience utilizing the Typelevel stack (preferably Cats and Cats Effect).

• Experience with microservices and AWS is strongly preferred.

• You prioritize quality and scalability, not just the act of coding.

• Excellent English proficiency, both spoken and written, is required.

• You should currently reside in Portugal, South Africa, or Kenya.
