SBA Underwriter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues through both written and verbal channels.

• Interpret and discuss analytical financial data and reports proficiently.

• Timely identify, document, and/or mitigate potential credit risks.

• Underwrite, structure, and assess creditworthiness while aligning with lender and borrower expectations.

• Conduct thorough and independent analyses of simple to complex credit scenarios to form sound credit decisions and recommendations.

• Adhere to reasonable expectations and ensure the completion of loan processing across all stages, including initial underwriting, submission, authorization, verification, document storage, and funding.

• Thrive in a collaborative team setting and be open to taking on additional tasks or roles for the advancement of the company.

• Familiarity with FBDC’s loan management software (currently Ventures+).

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of SBA credit experience or an equivalent background.

• Possess the ability to underwrite loan requests and prepare application packages in accordance with SBA guidelines and FBDC standards.

• Perform all necessary tasks and responsibilities to ensure compliance with SBA and FBDC regulations, which include but are not limited to successfully obtaining SBA authorization, executing 327 change actions, reviewing and accepting appraisal and environmental reports, verifying required documentation, and completing other tasks as needed.

• Maintain all 327 action changes within the loan management software to reflect Authorization requirements at all times.

• Application packages are subject to internal and external audits, and exceptions should be minimal. The underwriter will be accountable for any and all exceptions related to the application package.

• Willingness to assist with additional projects or tasks upon request.

• Mentor or review loan requests and documentation for less experienced underwriters.

• Share knowledge and expertise within the organization.

• Expected production volume indicates that a senior-level underwriter should manage all the above tasks and responsibilities for 48 loan requests per fiscal year.
