This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee and manage every facet of the Health and Safety Program at the designated remote project site.
• Offer visible leadership in the field and assist the Project Management Team, employees, and subcontractors in striving for zero harm.
• Conduct inspections and audits of both underground and surface work areas to ensure adherence to legislation, regulations, company policies, and client site standards.
• Carry out field observations to confirm that safety policies, procedures, risk controls, and programs are comprehended, implemented, and adhered to.
• Determine training necessities and create actionable plans for the site and rotation.
• Provide individual and group training sessions, including site-specific underground orientation and refresher training.
• Keep training records updated and assess upcoming or expired training needs.
• Formulate and revise policies, procedures, safe work practices, and risk assessments.
• Perform safety and training audits, acknowledge compliance, and address any deficiencies with site leadership and the Safety, Health & Training Manager.
• Supervise safety documentation, analyze program analytics and performance, and assist in Stop Work and Work Refusal situations.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, compile reports, and coordinate follow-up actions.
• Support workplace injury claims and facilitate Early and Safe Return to Work Programs.
• Assist with daily safety discussions, monthly safety meetings, Field Level Hazard Assessments, and Joint Health and Safety Committee activities.
• Organize, coordinate, and deliver essential equipment-specific, in-house, company, and third-party certification training.
• High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Successful completion of a Train the Trainer program is essential.
• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is required.
• Advanced knowledge of the mining industry and the Occupational Health and Safety Act is necessary.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, coaching, leadership, and conflict-resolution abilities are essential.
• Capability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion is required.
• Must be able to prioritize, multitask, and organize workload with minimal day-to-day supervision.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to construction and mining.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• A valid driver's license/permit is mandatory.
• Preferred: college diploma or university degree in a related field.
• Preferred: Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification.
