This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +1 more state.
• Perform loss analysis and research prior to conducting on-site occupational safety and loss prevention surveys.
• Evaluate the safety measures of policyholders and identify occupational safety risks.
• Compile and present findings reports to the management team.
• Suggest corrective actions for identified hazards and recommend enhancements for safety and loss control programs.
• Engage in management training initiatives.
• Investigate safety and loss control literature, regulations, standards, and technological advancements.
• Supply Underwriting with risk assessments that support underwriting decisions.
• Collaborate with standard to large accounts, including those with complex hazards and safety challenges.
• Mentor and support Safety and Loss Control Trainees as needed.
• Participate in training sessions for policyholders alongside Senior Safety and Loss Control Consultants.
• Advise policyholders on improving their occupational safety programs and performance metrics.
• Provide underwriters with relevant safety information pertaining to policyholders.
• Assess policyholder safety programs and work environments for hazardous conditions.
• Conduct basic Industrial Hygiene testing.
• Develop cost-effective strategies to mitigate hazardous conditions.
• Analyze loss data to identify accident trends and propose solutions.
• Deliver timely underwriting reports that address hazards, controls, and policyholder compliance.
• Keep Underwriting updated on any changes in hazards or exposures.
• Address safety inquiries from policyholders, underwriters, and agencies.
• Provide leadership and motivation to encourage and support the team.
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required, preferably in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with occupational safety and industrial hygiene processes.
• Understanding of effective safety program management practices.
• Insight into safety and industrial hygiene risk management within business operations.
• Knowledge of workers' compensation laws, policies, and regulations.
• Comprehension of insurance and risk management fundamentals.
• Basic understanding of guaranteed costs, deductibles, retrospective rating plans, and the impacts of accident prevention.
• Knowledge of rating systems and experience with experience modification factor calculations.
• Familiarity with U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics loss information, formulas, and incidence-rate calculations.
• Understanding of basic business financial principles for cost-effectiveness and ROI analysis.
• Capability to make sound decisions and work independently.
• Ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with policyholders, regulatory bodies, and labor communities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Skill in compiling, analyzing, and reporting findings.
• Knowledge of Federal OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and NFPA standards.
• Strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Capacity to operate a motor vehicle safely.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Preferred: Master's degree in Safety or Industrial Hygiene.
• Preferred: Two years of experience in occupational safety management or consulting.
• Preferred certifications: CSP, CIH, ARM, or ASP.
