• Act as a clinical expert in the evaluation and investigation of medical information related to disability.
• Determine restrictions, limitations, and duration affecting functional capacity based on medical information.
• Work collaboratively with healthcare providers to help individuals secure the appropriate care.
• Evaluate long-term and/or short-term disability claims to understand how claimants’ medical conditions influence their functionality.
• Analyze the claimant’s current treatment plan and work together with healthcare providers and claimants.
• Initiate proactive communication with treating providers to discuss treatment plans and clarify treatment and return-to-work goals.
• Offer continuous training and mentoring to claims staff and colleagues concerning issues influenced by the nature of the injury or illness.
• At least 5 years of experience in direct patient care environments.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Certified Case Manager (CCM) are preferred.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, along with strong presentation skills.
• Capability to exercise independent and sound judgment in decision-making processes.
• Strong analytical, clinical, and information research capabilities, along with effective problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proven ability to multitask while managing constantly shifting priorities.
• In-depth understanding of medical conditions and their relevance to disability products.
• Familiarity with DCMS, Claim Facts, and iProcess is preferred.
