Risk Standards Strategist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Lead the risk strategy for key company-wide strategic initiatives by collaborating with Stripe’s product, legal, operations, sales, and partnerships teams to address risk challenges and enhance the user experience for Stripe’s clients.

• Conduct research and analysis to evaluate Stripe’s current risk performance, while formulating and prioritizing long-term strategic plans for future growth.

• Facilitate user onboarding processes to enable safe scaling, consistently optimizing for both efficiency and effectiveness, with a strong emphasis on delivering a positive user experience.

• Question existing practices by presenting multiple alternative solutions along with essential execution criteria.

• Act as Stripe's representative in external interactions with our most significant partners and customers.

• Carry out special projects and ad hoc analyses as initiatives, products, risks, and opportunities evolve continuously.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional experience, ideally within the Financial Services, Payments, or fintech sectors.

• Proven experience in a related position (risk, compliance, and/or product enablement).

• Expertise in formulating risk strategies and solutions, collaborating with technical (product and engineering) and operations teams for implementation.

• Ability to simplify complex and ambiguous risk and policy issues into clear, concise, and dependable guidance for internal stakeholders and Stripe users.

• Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience in influencing product/engineering, sales, data science, and operations teams; demonstrated capacity to convert complex issues into actionable next steps, ensuring accountability and adherence to deadlines.

• Proven history of extracting insights from intricate or technical problem domains and advocating for actionable product recommendations.

• Knowledge of legal, credit, and fraud risk.

• Strong executive presence, with experience in engaging with leadership.
