This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee merchant operations to identify risks related to fraud, compliance, reputation, operations, ACH, chargebacks, and transactions.

• Examine flagged transactions, including those on hold, large amounts, refunds, duplicates, excessive authorizations or declines, suspicious behaviors, and emerging risk patterns.

• Execute merchant risk assessments and maintain thorough case documentation using Salesforce.

• Handle reviews of changes to bank accounts, ensuring validation, verification, approvals, system updates, quality control, and monitoring after changes.

• Assist with merchant monitoring initiatives, including website evaluations, LegitScript screenings, investigation of alerts, negative media assessments, sanctions checks, regulatory issues, and reviews of prohibited activities.

• Conduct enhanced due diligence and oversight for high-risk sectors, MCCs, NEC classifications, non-profits, firearms/ammunition vendors, and other sensitive categories.

• Track chargeback, ACH, and NACHA-related activities, including return rates, unauthorized and administrative returns, recurring payments, thresholds, trend analysis, and corrective actions.

• Aid in periodic KYC/KYB updates, merchant portfolio assessments, and document validation processes.

• Keep risk monitoring logs, investigation documentation, reporting dashboards, and tracking tools; generate regular reports.

• Record investigations including findings, evidence, risk evaluations, decisions made, ownership, and suggested next steps.

• Report urgent fraud, compliance, sanctions, regulatory, or operational risks to leadership.

• Promote advancements in risk processes, reporting improvements, underwriting projects, and operational initiatives.

• Adjust to changing priorities, procedures, risk controls, regulatory demands, and business strategies.

• Assume new responsibilities and contribute to cross-departmental projects.


⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in risk operations, underwriting, payment operations, fraud monitoring, banking operations, compliance operations, or a similar field.

• Familiarity with payment processing workflows, merchant accounts, transaction oversight, chargebacks, ACH returns, refunds, and risk indicators.

• Exceptional attention to detail with the capability to validate documents, spot inconsistencies, and maintain precise case notes and trackers.

• Proficiency in handling multiple ongoing reviews, follow-ups, escalations, and time-sensitive issues at once.

• Strong written communication abilities.

• Comfortable utilizing CRM/case management tools, spreadsheets, and operational trackers.

• Capacity to adhere to documented procedures while recognizing gaps, control weaknesses, or opportunities for process enhancement.

• Demonstrated sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion when managing sensitive merchant, banking, fraud, and compliance data.

• Ability to collaborate across functions with Risk, Underwriting, Onboarding, Merchant Support, Finance, Product, and partner-facing teams.

• Working knowledge of ACH processing, NACHA Operating Rules, ACH return codes, unauthorized return limits, administrative returns, and ACH risk monitoring best practices.

• Ability to analyze ACH-related risk factors, such as unusual return activity, account validation issues, transaction irregularities, and merchant processing trends.

• Preferred: experience in merchant acquiring, PayFac operations, fintech, payment risk, card-not-present settings, or payment gateway operations.

• Preferred: familiarity with tools like Payrix, Salesforce, Zift, Vantiv IQ, LegitScript, GIACT, Inscribe, or similar platforms.

• Experience in reviewing bank change documents, voided checks, bank letters, authorized signers, ownership validations, or account verification controls.

• Background in assessing chargebacks, ACH returns, transaction holds, duplicate transactions, excessive refunds, or verification of large-ticket workflows.

• Knowledge of MCC risk classification, high-risk sectors, NEC classifications, prohibited merchant categories, and triggers for enhanced due diligence.

• Experience in generating risk reports, KPI summaries, audit support documentation, or updates for operational leadership.

• Comfort working in a remote-first setting with a strong commitment to follow-through, documentation discipline, and ownership of queues.

• Familiarity with ACH risk monitoring programs, NACHA compliance standards, management of return rates, and payment network regulations.

• Required: pre-existing authorization to work in Canada; this position does not provide visa sponsorship.

• Required: ability to travel occasionally for team meetings, training sessions, conferences, and other business-related engagements.
