This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Assess clinical documentation for accuracy and ensure appropriate coding before processing electronic claims.
• Notify and educate providers and/or managers when coding inaccuracies are detected and/or when there are changes in payer requirements related to coding.
• Work in conjunction with the Billing Manager and AR Manager to identify trends in insurance denials and other issues leading to non-payment, and discuss strategies to minimize denials.
• Partner with the Manager to create and/or update billing/coding and resource manuals tailored to Primary Care services.
• Team up with the Patient Access Specialist to reconcile client accounts concerning eligibility-related matters.
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree along with 2-3 years of experience relevant to the responsibilities outlined in a Primary Care environment.
• CPC certification is mandatory.
• Familiarity with billing concepts, practices, and procedures specific to Primary Care.
• Experience with healthcare billing systems, preferably Welligent.
• Proficient in reviewing clinical documentation to apply CPT and ICD-10 codes for billing purposes.
• Strong comprehension of the Revenue Cycle.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Office 365, Teams, and Excel.
• Experience with North Carolina Medicaid.
