This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +4 more states.
• Submit claims, handle follow-ups on payer appeals, and relay claim status to the manager.
• Ensure claims are accurately coded in compliance with current CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS guidelines.
• Manage accounts receivable and liaise with insurance carriers to optimize payments while identifying issues or changes.
• Conduct secondary billing and patient invoicing, ensuring timely follow-up.
• Process online modifications to insurance claims.
• Adhere to insurance-carrier audit requests promptly.
• Review medical records and resubmit claims with the necessary documentation while maintaining confidentiality standards.
• Correct account and active-claim errors by adjusting or voiding transactions and posting appropriate adjustments.
• Investigate credit balances and manage insurance refunds or adjustments.
• Stay updated with insurance billing requirements and new guidelines.
• Engage in departmental and organizational process-improvement efforts.
• Assist providers and staff with insurance and billing inquiries via phone and email.
• Contribute to special projects related to accounts-receivable cleanup.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.
• A minimum of 3+ years of billing experience is required.
• In-depth knowledge of behavioral health and ABA medical billing, medical codes, and practices is essential.
• Familiarity with medical insurance payors, including Medicare, Medi-Cal, HMO, FFS, TPAs, PPO, and IPAs, is required.
• An associate degree and/or medical billing certification (AHIMA, AAPC) is preferred.
• Knowledge of billing codes and practices related to occupational therapy and speech-language therapy is preferred.
• Proficient computer skills, including experience with practice management software; familiarity with Central Reach is a significant advantage.
• Reliable internet connection is required.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail is necessary.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Punctual, dependable, adaptable, responsible, and quick to learn new tasks.
• Self-motivated individual.
• Excellent customer service skills are a must.
• Strong commitment to meeting the needs of families.
• Must reside in California, Arizona, Texas, Washington, or Colorado.
• Willingness to work regular PST hours.
