Resource Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +8 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as a regional expert on responses to child sex trafficking and implement trauma-informed, youth-centered interventions.

• Engage with child welfare professionals and multidisciplinary team members who are assisting youth involved in active NCMEC missing-child cases.

• Offer personalized support including recovery planning, safety planning, strategies for youth engagement, connections to specialized resources, and resolving system barriers.

• Conduct targeted outreach and build relationships with victim service providers, child welfare organizations, child advocacy centers, task forces, and regional resources.

• Keep regional resources, laws, policies, processes, and contacts related to child sex trafficking response updated.

• Accurately document case efforts and activities within specified timelines.

• Collaborate with NCMEC case managers, analysts, supervisors, and teams across various divisions.

• Create materials and resources to support CST and provide psychoeducation.

• Offer technical assistance regarding operational plans for child sex trafficking recovery.

• Share promising practices, research, case examples, and recovery-planning resources with the Recovery Services Team.

• Deliver presentations and trainings on NCMEC resources and RST services.

• Communicate NCMEC programs, resources, and data to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Respond to correspondence and calls, adhere to organizational policies, and perform additional assigned duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related field is required.

• At least 6 years of professional experience providing direct services to survivors of child sex trafficking.

• Practical knowledge and experience in providing individualized technical assistance on trauma-informed responses, stages of change, safety planning, and strength-based youth engagement.

• Proven experience in participating in recovery response or planning efforts for victims of child sex trafficking.

• Experience in professionally addressing misunderstandings, biases, and attitudes regarding exploited runaway youth.

• Strong understanding of child sex trafficking issues in the United States, including vulnerabilities, trafficking tactics, victim services, survivor-informed approaches, policy, and legislation.

• Demonstrated success in managing and developing relationships with diverse local and national anti-trafficking stakeholders.

• Capability to synthesize complex subjects and effectively communicate them to relevant audiences.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication, active listening, and mediation skills.

• Ability to work with challenging or distressing case situations.

• Strong organizational, interpersonal, prioritization, problem-solving, adaptability, and flexibility skills.

• Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, and Excel, and the ability to learn new software systems.

• Capacity to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and ensure timely completion of tasks.

• Ability to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of highly sensitive information and materials.

• Must successfully pass background screening, including fingerprinting, criminal history checks, and professional references.

• Eligibility to apply for Virginia Criminal Information Network certification is required.

• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful U.S. resident for the past 10 consecutive years to qualify for VCIN certification.

• Must reside in a state within the designated Region 2 as a condition of employment.

• Willingness to travel as necessary and provide occasional after-hours, weekend, evening, or overnight responses.

• Preferred, but not mandatory: LSW, LCSW, LPC, or LPA licensure.

• Strongly preferred: Experience working with or interacting with child welfare agencies.

• Strongly preferred: Experience with marginalized youth and communities.
