This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Perform advanced machine learning research by developing and training large language models.

• Concentrate on research endeavors that aim to push the boundaries of knowledge in language modeling and related fields, such as evaluation, multimodal models, and optimization.

• Share your research findings through the creation of publications, datasets, and code.

• Participate in research projects that have tangible applications in the development of Cohere’s products.


⛳️ Requirements

• Currently pursuing or in the process of completing a PhD in Machine Learning, NLP, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field. Exceptional candidates without a PhD will also be considered.

• Must be eligible for work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization throughout the internship.

• Experience with large-scale distributed training methods, data annotation and evaluation pipelines, or implementing cutting-edge ML models is required.

• Familiarity with autoregressive sequence models, including Transformers, is essential.

• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to convey complex research results clearly and concisely.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Lua, or similar languages is necessary.

• Knowledge of ML frameworks such as JAX, PyTorch, and TensorFlow is important.

• Previous experience in developing systems utilizing machine learning and deep learning techniques is expected.

• A demonstrated passion for applied NLP models and products is essential.
