This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• The Research Finance Analyst serves as the primary financial liaison for sponsored programs, collaborating with departmental administrators, principal investigators, and BMC central research administration to monitor, control, and report on grants and contracts.
• This role involves daily account analysis and communication with the BMC research community, sponsors, and central BMC research administration staff.
• The Research Finance Analyst is tasked with overseeing and communicating the fiscal management of grants and contracts in compliance with government regulations, sponsor requirements, and Hospital policies.
• The Research Finance Analyst II will manage a portfolio of sponsored projects, executing all post-award financial functions as per the sponsor's terms and conditions, which include budget and expense analysis, monthly invoicing, financial reporting, labor distribution changes, and re-budgeting.
• Evaluates contracts and new awards to determine their impact on financial management and provides feedback to Sponsored Programs Administration, ensuring BMC meets its financial obligations.
• Responsible for liaising with investigators and/or departmental administrators regarding post-award financial management of sponsored funds, focusing on budget versus spending, billed and unbilled amounts, aged receivables, un-reconciled accounts, and deficits.
• Regularly meets with departmental administrators and/or principal investigators to discuss account statuses.
• Conducts all grant closeout activities in accordance with the sponsor’s terms and Hospital policies, including grant reconciliation, preparation and submission of financial reports, final invoicing, purchase order liquidations, carryover of available funds, and AR follow-up.
• As needed, engages with sponsors for issue resolution, outstanding receivables, budget adjustments, and information gathering.
• A BS/BA or equivalent work experience is preferred, ideally in Accounting, Finance, or Business (a High School diploma or GED is required).
• Requires two to five years of relevant work experience, preferably in an Accounting or Financial capacity.
• Strong computer skills are essential, including comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• The individual should possess excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of analytical ability and be capable of effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
