Research Business Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Supervise the financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost transfers for the research operations portfolio.

• Oversee the development of proposals, compliance-related effort reporting, expenditures, and work collaboratively with essential research support offices.

• Provide guidance to faculty and departmental personnel on research administration, patents, intellectual property, and matters related to clinical trials.

• Coordinate personnel actions throughout the employee lifecycle, which includes recruitment, onboarding, job transitions, separations, visa processes, system access, and payroll/timekeeping approvals in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.

• Assist departmental operations involving purchasing, facilities management, travel arrangements, safety coordination, maintenance, and general laboratory services.

• Lead and mentor research operations personnel, evaluate workload and performance, and offer consistent feedback and oversight.

• Contribute to strategic planning and represent research operations on organization-wide initiatives and committees as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in any field.

• A minimum of 3 years of administrative experience in an academic research or healthcare setting, including 2 years of progressively responsible management experience.

• Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, business administration, research administration, science, or a related discipline.

• It is preferred to have 5+ years of business management experience in an academic research or healthcare environment.

• At least 2 years of supervisory experience with increasing responsibilities is required.
