This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Engage with newly elected prosecutors, national organizations, academics, and leaders in the justice system.
• Conduct research and draft briefing documents, while compiling informational resources, including the development and review of data, survey insights, technical assistance materials, and protocols that reflect innovative approaches in prosecutorial practices.
• Support FJP staff in gathering information from prosecutors, academics, and other experts regarding prosecutorial best practices, juvenile justice matters, strategies to reduce incarceration, diversion, bail reform, enhancing transparency and accountability, addressing inequalities in the justice system, and building community trust.
• Collaborate with FJP staff to plan, structure, and organize both in-person and remote meetings that allow newly elected prosecutorial leaders to share knowledge with each other and learn from other field experts.
• Assist FJP staff in developing and conducting interviews, overseeing surveys, and providing support to prosecutorial leaders within the FJP network.
• Work alongside FJP staff to develop, promote, and supervise opportunities for academic partnerships.
• Collaborate with FJP staff to create and update project management and tracking tools and systems.
• Partner with FJP staff to identify and promote additional learning opportunities and collaborations that can enhance FJP prosecutorial leaders' ability to understand and implement new practices and ideas within the justice system.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required; a JD, Master’s Degree, or equivalent post-graduate degree is preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will also be taken into account.
• Ability to comprehend and assist in supporting a national project aimed at prosecutorial reforms and broader criminal legal system changes.
• Familiarity with justice and/or policy reform initiatives.
• Excellent writing, research, and verbal communication skills.
• Capability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks while ensuring a large national project remains organized and on schedule.
• Proficiency in effectively communicating with, establishing credibility with, and gaining the trust of elected prosecutorial leaders and their teams.
