This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Lead discovery and translational initiatives in partnership with AI and internal research teams, primarily focusing on the integration of scRNA-seq and spatial biology into Natera’s processes.
• Collaborate with external translational teams to incorporate single-cell and spatial biology workflows into their early-phase clinical trials.
• Utilize innovative technologies to enhance both collaborative reverse and forward translation efforts, along with internal target discovery and validation projects.
• Design and implement lab-based research programs that connect clinical observations with mechanistic hypotheses, aiding in asset progression and CDP expansion.
• Oversee and contribute to the technology area team specializing in single-cell genomics and spatial omics, developing multiomics capabilities to bolster foundational models and RWD initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to establish, refine, and roll out state-of-the-art platforms for translational purposes.
• Act as an internal authority and thought leader on emerging genomics technologies pertinent to oncology drug discovery and development.
• Represent translational science on life cycle, RWD, and BioPharma BD teams.
• Work alongside Clinical, Biomarker, Discovery, and Regulatory colleagues to shape clinical trial designs and biomarker strategies.
• Cultivate and sustain external scientific partnerships and advisory relationships as needed.
• Lead and mentor a team of scientists and contractors, demonstrating a strong commitment to their career development and scientific advancement.
• Promote a collaborative, high-performance team culture with defined goals and accountability.
• A Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Molecular/Cellular Biology, Immunology, Bioengineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Over 6 years of post-Ph.D. experience in oncology translational research within biotech or pharma, with a proven track record of progression into senior or principal scientist roles.
• Extensive scientific knowledge in at least one of the following areas: cancer cell biology, tumor immunology, cell engineering, or neoantigen biology.
• Practical experience with single-cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics, or multiomics platforms; experience in developing or scaling these capabilities within an organizational setting is highly desirable.
• Strong publication and/or patent history demonstrating independent scientific contributions.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence without direct authority across Research, Clinical, and Biomarker teams.
• Previous experience in managing and mentoring scientists at various career stages.
• Exceptional scientific communication skills, with the ability to distill complex data and present it effectively to varied audiences.
