This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Collaborate with a national editor and regional journalists to create original and authoritative content that highlights the state of health care in Canada.
• Concentrate on a specific topic within the health care sector that aligns with the objectives Michelle Lang aimed for in her daily journalism.
• Utilize a wide array of journalistic tools, ranging from quick turnaround reporting to in-depth investigations, data projects, and video storytelling.
• Partner with senior writers and reporters to enhance content quality.
• A dedication to journalism and a passion for storytelling in all its forms.
• Excellent writing and communication abilities.
• An inherent curiosity and a wish to drive change through journalism.
• A capability to collaborate effectively with team members.
• Fundamental reporting skills.
• Bilingual proficiency, in French or other languages, is regarded as an asset.
• Experience in a daily newspaper setting is beneficial but not essential.
• Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license.
• This position offers a salaried fellowship, with compensation provided at the entry-level reporter rate.
• Funding for the Michelle Lang Fellowship will be supplied by the Calgary Herald and Postmedia Network Inc., along with the Michelle Lang Trust.
