This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accurately and efficiently process assigned medical-record Release of Information requests while adhering to required turnaround times.

• Protect patient privacy and ensure that releases comply with authorizations, VRC and healthcare-facility policies, HIPAA, and relevant laws.

• Access requests and medical records utilizing client-specific procedures and security protocols.

• Verify requests and patient authorizations, categorize request types, and log requests using ROI software.

• Retrieve and upload requested portions of medical charts from both electronic and physical repositories.

• Conduct quality-control checks to guarantee accurate releases and prevent breaches of Protected Health Information (PHI).

• Adjust invoices as necessary, create billing materials, and release validated requests to the appropriate entities.

• Deny any invalid or non-HIPAA-compliant requests.

• Return physically retrieved records to their designated locations.

• Record exceptions, communications, and pertinent request information in ROI software.

• Escalate any questionable requests, suspected breaches, delays, connectivity issues, equipment malfunctions, and security concerns to supervisors.

• Address requestor inquiries with professionalism and efficiency.

• Securely store records and files while maintaining sufficient office supplies.

• Provide assistance with additional facilities or request types during periods of backlog.

• Ensure client information remains current.

• Complete all required training and perform other assigned tasks.


⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is mandatory; a degree is preferred.

• Previous experience in Release of Information fulfillment is preferred.

• Strong attention to detail is essential.

• Ability to prioritize, organize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.

• Strong documentation and communication skills are required.

• Capability to maintain productivity and quality performance is necessary.

• Basic understanding of medical records and HIPAA regulations is preferred.

• Previous experience with EHR/EMR platforms is preferred.

• Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office products is expected.

• Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, are required.

• Experience operating printers, computers, fax machines, scanners, and microfilm reader/printers is preferred.

• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to maintain focus for extended periods.

• Must possess the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.

• Bilingual skills are desirable.
