Regulatory Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the entire lifecycle of payment licenses across LATAM markets — from initial applications to renewals and regulatory modifications.

• Track and assess regulatory developments from central banks and financial supervisory bodies (BACEN, CNBV, BCRA, SFC, CMF, SBS, and others) and convert them into actionable internal guidelines.

• Establish and nurture direct relationships with regulators — manage responses to inquiries and represent Localpayment during regulatory discussions.

• Assist in the design and execution of AML/KYC programs in compliance with local regulations in each country where we operate.

• Conduct regulatory analysis for entry into new markets, including license mapping, risk evaluation, and timelines.

• Collaborate with Product, Tech, and Ops teams to ensure that regulatory compliance is integrated into our processes — rather than added later.

• Continuously maintain and revise internal compliance policies, procedures, and manuals to reflect the changing regulatory environment across the region.

• Utilize AI tools (Claude, NotebookLM, or comparable) to streamline regulatory research, policy formulation, and compliance documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs, Compliance, or Legal positions within fintech or payment organizations.

• Direct, hands-on experience with payment or e-money licenses in a minimum of 2 LATAM markets. Experience with cross-border payments, PSP ecosystems, or acquiring bank relationships is highly advantageous.

• Proficient understanding of AML/KYC/PLD requirements throughout the region.

• Familiarity with key regulatory agencies: BACEN, CNBV, BCRA, SFC, CMF, SBS/BCRP.

• Degree in Law, Accounting, or a related field with a focus on regulatory or financial aspects.

• Fluent in Spanish (mandatory) and intermediate-advanced proficiency in English (required). Portuguese is a significant advantage for Brazilian market coverage.

• Ability to translate intricate regulatory language into clear, actionable business directives.

• Self-sufficient and proactive — you identify regulatory risks before they escalate into operational challenges.
