Registered Nurse – Infection Preventionist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Oversee Infection Prevention and Control activities under the supervision of the Infection Prevention Manager.

• Facilitate and support the deployment of a comprehensive infection control and prevention program across the organization.

• Identify, prevent, and mitigate sources of infection.

• Establish and monitor processes aimed at reducing hospital-acquired infections.

• Ensure adherence to infection control standards along with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

• Utilize epidemiological principles, statistical methods, and risk stratification to identify target populations and assess trends and risk factors.

• Conduct surveillance following NHSN criteria and investigate hospital-acquired infections through clinical records, laboratory analyses, isolation, consultations, post-discharge reviews, and autopsy evaluations.

• Employ computer-based tools for tracking, reporting, and disseminating surveillance data.

• Generate statistical reports to identify and analyze infection trends.

• Investigate, document, and report on infection control issues and outbreaks.

• Engage in quality and performance improvement initiatives.

• Participate in environmental assessments and construction risk evaluations, offering infection prevention interventions.

• Provide expert guidance in IPC and epidemiology, leveraging evidence-based practices, policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

• Collaborate with Employee Health regarding communicable disease exposures and follow-up actions.

• Educate healthcare providers, staff, patients, families, and the community on HAI and IPC strategies.

• Mentor and collaborate with facility personnel and other healthcare professionals.

• Assist in fiscal management by evaluating infection prevention technologies and products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a healthcare-related field is required.

• Master’s degree in Nursing or a healthcare-related field is preferred.

• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is required within three years.

• Completion of advanced education in Infection Prevention at the time of hire is preferred.

• At least two years of experience in direct patient care or a related healthcare field is preferred.

• Experience in infection control/prevention is preferred.

• Knowledge of improvement science.

• Ability to lead and facilitate multidisciplinary teams.

• Experience in performance improvement.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Strong analytical skills.

• Extensive knowledge of computer systems and software applications.
