Registered Nurse – Hemodialysis

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to individuals in the hemodialysis unit.

• Engage in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation as part of the nursing process.

• Adhere to policies and procedures related to patient observations.

• Offer professional, patient-focused care that enhances patient safety and both physiological and psychological well-being.

• Foster therapeutic relationships and create supportive environments.

• Provide compassionate care in a culturally diverse setting.

• Implement infection control and prevention protocols.

• Identify changes in patients’ health status and react appropriately to emergencies.

• Consult effectively and employ transfer-of-accountability principles.

• Educate patients and their families on health-related matters.

• Give comprehensive discharge instructions to ensure continuity of care in the community.

• Collaborate as part of an inter-professional healthcare team.

• Travel and work across Osler locations as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Clinical experience within the past five years.

• A minimum of two years of experience in an acute care environment is required.

• At least one year of current/recent experience in hemodialysis is essential.

• A nephrology certificate is required, or proof of enrollment with completion expected within 18 months of hire.

• Completion and application of the vascular access modules from the Ontario Renal Network are mandatory.

• Familiarity with Nephrology Nursing Standards and Practice Recommendations, as well as guidance from the Canadian Association of Nephrology Nurses and Technologists regarding hemodialysis, is required.

• Current registration and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

• BCLS certification is mandatory.

• Strong understanding of the nursing process, theory, and professional responsibilities.

• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, decision-making, organizational, critical-thinking, and customer-service abilities.

• Capacity to work collaboratively within an inter-professional team.

• Knowledge of patient- and family-centered care practices.

• Proven experience in patient and family health education.

• Skills in leadership and facilitation.

• Ability to thrive in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.

• Competence in prioritizing patient care needs and making independent decisions.

• Excellent physical assessment capabilities.

• Ability to foster a healthy work environment and adhere to client safety protocols.

• Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

• Familiarity with information systems and technology.

• Dedication to ongoing learning and professional development.
