Registered Dietitian

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Collaborate efficiently with the Clinical team to deliver thorough nutrition support for both our acute and long-term care residents.

• Create and recommend dietary and food service policies and procedures to the Food Service Director to fulfill the needs of residents.

• Design menus that cater to the dietary requirements of residents.

• Assess and document the nutritional needs of residents in line with the comprehensive assessment and care plan.

• Review and organize all regular and therapeutic diets and menus.

• Approve all permanent menu modifications.

• Provide counseling to residents about their dietary preferences, appetite, food habits, and therapeutic menus.

• Assess and document residents' food allergies and cultural backgrounds that may influence their food consumption.

• Evaluate and suggest improvements regarding meal serving times, sanitation, and food handling protocols.

• Assess and recommend improvements for food service equipment.

• Evaluate food for nutritional adequacy, preparation methods, taste, appearance, serving temperature, and portion sizes.

• Support the Food Service Director in modifying recipes to achieve the desired yield.

• Plan and deliver in-service training programs for food service staff, nurses, and nursing assistants.

⛳️ Requirements

• Current Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) registration through the Commission of Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association.

• MS or BS degree along with the completion of a dietetic internship program.

• Minimum of one year of experience in Long Term Care.

• Understanding of current best practices in medical nutrition therapy.

• Strong familiarity with State and Federal regulatory guidelines, MDS, and standards affecting the Clinical Nutrition department in Long Term Care.

• Exceptional client service, organizational, and communication skills are vital.

• Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Point Click Care.
