This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.
• Accompany member churches in their ministry through guidance, support, and collaboration.
• Assist churches in articulating their communion relationships through collective life and testimony.
• Facilitate the execution of LWF programmatic initiatives across European regions and globally.
• Organize and lead regional and sub-regional leadership meetings.
• Maintain consistent communication with member churches to ensure a steady flow of information.
• Provide pastoral support through regular visits to member churches.
• Identify and foster the development of clergy and lay leadership within the church.
• Facilitate connections between member churches, alleviate tensions, and manage conflicts.
• Monitor and enhance LWF orientations, strategies, and goals for European regions.
• Identify and coordinate expertise and resources for regional program initiatives and capacity building.
• Participate in periodic program evaluations within the department.
• Oversee the mutual responsibility framework process in European regions.
• Assist in the design, planning, and execution of programs for the three European regions.
• Collaborate with other Regional Secretaries to ensure regional coherence and consistency.
• Advise and support communication efforts for fostering communion.
• Convene regional gatherings at the Communion Office.
• Supervise a shared assistant position.
• Execute additional tasks as assigned by the General Secretary.
• Degree in Theology.
• Ordained pastor within a member church.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Endorsement from a member church is mandatory.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in roles related to mission, theological reflection, and planning.
• Strong skills in mediation, coaching, and group facilitation.
• Diplomatic, relational, and political acumen.
• Proficiency in process management.
• Significant experience within an LWF member church and in regional contexts.
• Strong ability to develop interpersonal relationships at both strategic and operational levels.
• Capability to lead and engage with multicultural and multiprofessional teams with indirect oversight.
• Knowledge of German and French is advantageous.
• Proficiencies in organizational development, communication, networking, diplomacy, facilitation, negotiation, mediation, advocacy, influence, and project management.
• Fully remote work from the country of residence.
• Initial 5-year contract, with the possibility of renewal once.
• Extensive travel opportunities (over 20 days per year).
