This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the subject matter expert on regional state regulations, collaborating with Market Compliance Managers (MCMs) and key stakeholders to positively influence business operations.

• Lead, develop, and mentor a team of Market Compliance Managers in the assigned region, ensuring alignment with corporate compliance goals, promoting professional development, and driving consistent implementation of regulatory and market compliance strategies.

• Responsible for establishing a primary contact for regulatory agencies within the region, where applicable, effectively managing relationships, coordinating inspections, and addressing inquiries.

• Oversee the necessary reporting and responses to regulators and senior leadership regarding significant regulatory issues, such as adverse events or recalls, unexpected operational hour changes, product concerns, and security matters.

• Create and implement regional compliance strategies that align with enterprise objectives and regulatory requirements.

• Supervise the execution of compliance programs across retail and production operations in the region, identifying compliance risks and recommending solutions that balance regulatory obligations with operational flexibility.

• Ensure that regulatory frameworks are established and upheld to support licensing commitments, product safety, environmental standards, and operational benchmarks.

• Collaborate with Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs to monitor, interpret, and influence regulatory developments, ensuring that company objectives are integrated into evolving rules and regulations.

• Facilitate the identification, development, and optimization of policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks that promote operational excellence.

• Conduct risk assessments and formulate corrective action plans to address compliance gaps, collaborating with stakeholders to implement solutions.

• Aid in mergers, acquisitions, and expansion efforts by performing regulatory and compliance assessments, ensuring smooth compliance integration during transitions.

• Lead product commercialization initiatives, including product packaging and labeling reviews, and timely submissions to regulators; escalate opportunities for process improvements to key partners.

• Work together on training programs to enhance compliance awareness and accountability throughout the region and at all organizational levels.

• Prepare and present compliance reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators that highlight trends, risks, and strategic recommendations for the region.

• Conduct periodic site visits to verify compliance practices and ensure operational adherence; enforce accountability and recommend ongoing improvement initiatives.

• Enforce accountability for compliance actions and offer continuous improvement recommendations to leadership.

• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or an advanced degree is preferred.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a compliance, operations, or regulatory function within a highly regulated industry such as cannabis, pharmaceuticals, alcohol, or tobacco is preferred.

• At least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role overseeing compliance programs.

• Proven track record in developing and executing strategic compliance initiatives across multiple locations.

• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and experience in liaising with government agencies.

• Outstanding communication and relationship-building abilities with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Unquestionable integrity and ethical standards.

• Demonstrated executive presence, maintaining professionalism and decisiveness in high-pressure or complex situations.

• Proven capacity to assess and prioritize risk levels, make sound decisions under pressure, and take calculated risks to further business objectives without excessive reliance on legal or leadership guidance.

• Demonstrated ability to lead with empathy and integrity while fostering professional growth through mentorship and continuous learning opportunities.

• Willingness to travel up to 20%.
