This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Serve as the EHS subject matter expert to guarantee adherence to safety and environmental regulations set by the company, state, and federal authorities.
• Assist the EHS Director in identifying priority EHS focus areas and plants within the Business Segment.
• Contribute to the creation of safety enhancement strategies and the execution of action items aimed at mitigating risks.
• Perform regular site inspections to assess progress towards defined goals, improvement plans, action items, and initiatives.
• Engage in and support risk reduction initiatives to manage claims, minimize injuries, and lower workers' compensation expenses, which include ergonomics, manual handling, industrial hygiene, and machine guarding.
• Liaise with government agencies, plant leaders, and segment leaders.
• Aid in the appraisal and analysis of expense or capital projects.
• Contribute to the annual performance evaluations and development plans for site EHS professionals.
• Organize, lead, and facilitate Safety and Environmental Kaizens.
• Assist with injury analysis, root cause identification, and the implementation of corrective actions.
• Lead and support integration efforts and facility consolidation.
• Conduct innovative behavior-based training for leadership and employees to promote proactive measures.
• Implement and oversee environmental, health, and safety programs, including injury reduction, industrial safety, waste management, air emissions, wastewater discharge, and spill/emergency response protocols.
• Advocate for the utilization of the EMS database to manage and track injuries, compliance calendars, JSA's, corrective actions, and other essential EMS program components.
• Analyze first aid incidents, near misses, and recordable injuries to develop and communicate proactive strategies to avoid future occurrences.
• Conduct safety and environmental audits/inspections, relay results, document and monitor the progress of corrective actions, and ensure follow-up measures are implemented.
• Provide technical assistance for pollution and/or risk prevention projects as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent educational qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a relevant technical or engineering field.
• A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive responsibility in EHS, including leadership roles.
• Demonstrated capacity to influence and lead within a matrix organization.
• Attention to detail, compliance orientation, multitasking abilities, and strong communication skills are critical for this role.
• Proficiency in software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
