This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Act as the Food Safety subject matter expert, providing support to restaurants and cross-functional teams by offering guidance and coaching on Food Safety programs and issues.
• Strategically plan and conduct restaurant visits in collaboration with leaders to evaluate and enhance food safety compliance and best practices, ensuring that food safety principles are central to daily restaurant operations and team conduct.
• Assist new Field Leaders with food safety onboarding and education, which includes audit execution, assessment procedures, and the use of company tools and resources.
• Lead the response to food safety emergencies reported through the Safety Support Restaurant (SSR) Hotline by assessing the situation, triaging issues, engaging stakeholders, and coordinating appropriate resolutions, including executive and third-party escalation and potential restaurant closures.
• Manage and coordinate comprehensive food safety compliance by utilizing data-driven reporting, thorough training programs, and cross-functional collaboration, working with all stakeholders to align on food safety priorities.
• Contribute to the formulation of national food safety policies, procedures, and materials applicable to all locations and restaurant staff.
• Cultivate expertise in food safety tools, systems, and strategies, empowering teams to serve as champions of food safety through coaching, mentoring, and exemplary leadership.
• Demonstrate sound judgment in dynamic situations, often acting as the initial point of contact for food safety decisions in the field.
• A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
• A Bachelor's Degree from a four-year university in General Science, Food Science and Technology, Human Nutrition, Hospitality Management, or Business Administration is required.
• CP-FS and REHS/RS certifications are required.
• Manager Level ServSafe Certification, HACCP Certification, and Allergen Certification are required.
• 5-8 years of experience in Food Safety, Quality Assurance, Microbiology, Chemistry, Restaurant Operations, and/or Pest Management is required.
• Proven ability to develop, implement, and enhance food safety programs through effective collaboration and leadership.
• Strong capability to analyze, prioritize, and address complex food safety challenges in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities, plan effectively, and achieve results.
• Proficient in delivering clear, concise, and professional written and verbal communication to internal cross-functional teams, leadership, and external partners.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to coach and motivate teams towards a common goal of food safety excellence.
• Expertise in identifying risks, formulating solutions, and implementing preventive measures that align with company objectives.
• Comprehensive knowledge of food safety regulations, FDA Food Code, and experience in conducting audits or managing food safety incidents.
• Familiarity with pest management vendors and risk mitigation strategies.
• Ability to be on call outside of regular business hours and travel up to 60% as required.
