
R&D Engineer – Mission Solutions

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, prototype, evaluate, and enhance software and platform solutions tailored for defense-related applications.
• Participate in internal research and development initiatives from initial concept through demonstration and subsequent enhancements.
• Create, configure, integrate, and validate prototype functionalities in cloud-native or containerized settings.
• Assist in technical demonstrations, R&D events, solution presentations, and engagements focused on customer or mission needs.
• Convert feedback from users, customers, and stakeholders into precise technical requirements and actionable recommendations.
• Collaborate closely with engineers and technical leadership to assess trade-offs, resolve issues, and optimize system performance.
• Connect operational requirements with software implementation by guiding teams in understanding user needs and technical possibilities.
• Evaluate APIs, services, workflows, integrations, and deployment methodologies within contemporary software environments.
• Develop demo materials, technical documentation, briefing content, and summaries of post-event feedback.
• Clearly articulate technical concepts to engineering teams, program stakeholders, customers, and mission users.
• Represent Rackner’s R&D initiatives with professionalism, curiosity, and technical integrity.
• U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to federal contract stipulations.
• Ability to acquire and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
• Technical expertise in software development, platform engineering, systems engineering, DevSecOps, cloud technologies, or a similar field.
• Practical experience in designing, building, integrating, testing, or enhancing modern software systems.
• Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively with engineering teams during prototype development, experimentation, implementation, or delivery phases.
• Familiarity with APIs, cloud platforms, container technologies, CI/CD pipelines, and contemporary development methodologies.
• Skill in gathering input from users and stakeholders to transform needs into defined engineering priorities.
• Excellent communication abilities to elucidate architectures, trade-offs, and technical decisions to diverse audiences.
• Comfortable working autonomously in dynamic environments with shifting requirements.
• Willingness to travel approximately 15% for R&D events, demonstrations, collaborative sessions, or customer interactions.
